Centre plans stiffer fines for those entering India illegally

The Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, which will consolidate four existing Acts, proposes up to five years in jail and fines up to Rs 5 lakh for foreigners entering India without a valid passport or visa. It also mandates educational and medical institutions to share information on foreigners and holds carriers accountable for transporting individuals with invalid travel documents.
